“My fishin buddy and I finally pulled the trigger and booked a day trip to fish the Yakima October 29th. We were not familiar with some of the techniques that are used on the Yakima but our guide Todd soon had us dialed in. I've done several different guided trips for various species, Todd is hands down the best guide I've had the pleasure to fish with. We started catching fish right at the launch and the action was steady enough that we didn't want to stop for lunch. You must stop for lunch, Todd is also a great riverside ''chef'' and his BBQ chicken was very tasty.

"My friend and long time fishing companion Keith and I booked a trip with Ellensburg Anglers to fish the Yakima in the first week of October.We knew that a trip at this time of year always involves a throw of the weather dice, and the first day was windy, the second, cold. That however, did not detract from a marvelous trip with guide Stefan.

Stefan has intimate knowledge of the river, its fishery, its currents and its flies. Where i his real skill lies in putting you where the fish are, and equally important, keeping you informed of what to expect and where to cast. He keeps the dialogue going, so that you are prepared for each possibility with sufficient time to plan your cast. He has an extensive set of flies, and stays up with changing conditions by changing flies, leaders, weights in order to give you the best chance of success.

A hallmark of this outfit is an excellent hot lunch cooked at stream side. Steak one day, grilled chicken the next.

“An absolutely fantastic time on the Yakima with our guide, Todd from Ellensburg Angler.

My teenage son and I were looking for a new activity to learn together, we decided on fly fishing. But where to start? The 101 class at the Bellevue Orvis shop was an easy introduction. The class touched on the basics; equipment (rods, reels, lines, etc.), fishing in Washington and best of all, getting a taste of casting in the parking lot. The staff at Orvis was great. They kept the information simple and fun, catering to complete newbies.

“Went fishing with the Ellensburg Angler Team during the spring, summer, and fall this year. Fished the Yakima, Klickitat, and Rocky Ford, I guess hired them more than seven times this year … did it by drift boat and walk&wade. Was fortunate to fish with four different guides and I rate all of them very highly.

Each time I went, I came back a better angler … what has been incredible, is their willingness to impart their knowledge. Not only on what to use, but casting techniques, locations, how to read the water and various locations. I really felt that they wanted me to become a better angler.
