A Quick Yakima Update

The fishing this week has been "good", with some days better than others. Nymphing, dry flies and streamers are all putting fish in the net, with the most productive technique dependent on time of day, section of river, and weather conditions.

Overall, the middle of the day has been best with an indicator or dry-dropper rig. Pat's Stones, YB Hare's Ears, Pheasant Tails, and Lightning Bugs are all fishing well.

In the morning and evening hours when the sun is off the water, we are seeing fish up eating big dries as well as caddis, with evenings fishing slightly better than mornings. Chubbies in royal, purple, and tan, Crystal Stimulators, Elk Hair Caddis and CDC emergers have been some of our guides favorites this past week.

The streamer fishing has ben hit and miss, with cloud cover helping the bite in a big way, if you can find it. Dolly Llamas in white or white/olive are getting some love and are great imitations of smaller baitfish and salmon smolt, which the river is full of this time of year. Good fishing should continue through the weekend, we hope to see you out on the water!
