Yakima River Mid-Winter Fishing Report: January 22nd, 2018

Here it is the middle of January and we are consistently seeing daytime temperatures in the high 30's and low 40's. That is balmy for Central Washington! Our guides and guests have been out on the water taking advantage of the great fishing weather, and have been rewarded with some great fishing. Weird how one usually folllws the other. Nymphing the Pat's/San Juan combo has been very productive, along with a pretty awesome streamer bite this past week. Top 3 streamer patterns over the past few days have been Coffey's Sparkle Minnow in sculpin (the gold one), olive/white Dolly Lllamas, and the Little Rascal in black. Swinging or stripping have both been equally effective for those anglers chucking meat. If you haven't had a chance to fish the Yakima in the "quiet" season, check out our Winter Guided Trip Special: $139 per angler (based on double occupancy) for a 5 hour float down our blue-ribbon trout stream. Gear and a hot lunch is included. Come learn the ways of the Yakima from our friendly, professional, fishy-as-hell guide staff. Regardless of whether you are on a guided trip or a DIYer, have fun and stay safe out there!
