The fishing has been a little slow early this week, probably due in part to the full moon, as well as the typical mid-August "lull" we tend to experience every year. Early and late is still the way to go, just expect to work harder for your fish, especially the bigger fish, than you did a few weeks ago. This river and it's fish have seen a lot of bugs, both real and fake this summer, so near perfect casts and clean, drag-free drifts are what'll get it done. As we said in previous reports, going with smaller subtler stonefly patterns (i.e. not the chubby) will put more fish in the net this time of year. Midday fishing has been on the slower side, and with how hot it's been, we've been staying off the water in the middle of the day. That being said if you want to brave the heat, fish a hopper or hopper-dropper rig in the faster water and you may be able to find a few.
