With milder temps this past week we have had some good fishing on the Yakima, and we are crossing our fingers and hoping that remaining snow in the valley melts slowly, and that the river stays in shape through the weekend. According to the NOAA forecast for the Yak, it looks like we might see a bump in flows starting Thursday, but this is only a forecast and can change quickly. We will keep an eye on flows and keep all of our loyal blog readers updated on flows and fishing conditions. Stonefly nymphs are starting toplay a big role in our trout's diet with the Skwala hatch drawing closer and closer. Pair that rubberlegs stone with a San Juan Worm or Zebra Midge and you have a killer late-winter setup. Swinging sculpin patterns like Sculpzillas in olive or black could be very good this week if things stay in shape and you will probably see a few of our guides out fishing two-handers, taking advantage of their last days off before things get really busy around here!
