Yakima River Fly Fishing Report

More cold this week, although the snow has let up with only the occasional flurry here in the valley. Fishing has been "decent", with the cold water temps limiting the bite to a small window in the afternoon when the water is warmest. Nymphing has been about the only technique that is even manageable right now (ice forming in the guides has made casting and stripping streamers tough), with a Pat's Stone trailed by a pink San Juan worm or #18-20 red Brassie being the go-to. It looks like we will have low temps in the single digits this week, which may lead to some ice flow, so unless you can get out today or possibly tomorrow, best to wait until things warm up. Tight lines and Happy Holidays!
