Yakima River Fly Fishing Report

November 12, 2016

Happy Veteran's Day Weekend to all our military both former and active duty. We are fortunate to live in a country where everyone has a right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, and we owe it all to those brave men and women who have served in the armed forces!

Fishing-wise, things are looking good on the Yakima, with the continuation of the warmer-than-average weather we've been having. It is a very real possibility to catch fish on dries, nymphs and streamers all in one day right now, especially when there is a little bit of cloud cover to help along the dry fly and streamer bite. The trout spey fishing has been a favorite of our guests and guides lately, and is a very efficient way to present a swung streamer or soft hackle while covering a large chunk of water on foot. With the river low and clear, there are plenty of options for both boat and wade anglers, just remember to focus on the color changes and work the water over thoroughly, the fish are podded up so where there's one, there's usually more!
