Yakima River Winter Fishing Report: February 12th, 2018

The river has continued to drop and fishing is getting going again. Our guides have been out on the water over the last few days, and while things aren't crazy good yet, there are fish being caught, and some nice ones at that. Nymph rigs have been out-fishing streamers with, you guessed it, the Pat's and pink San Juan combo being the go-to. The river is still high, so the key to finding fish is looking for the soft, slow edges with some good depth (4-6 ft.). Fishing should continue to improve as the river gets closer to normal late winter flows, and as we near late February, our thoughts turn to Skwala stoneflies and the first dry fly event of the season.
