The past few days have been WINDY, but the river has stayed in great shape, and with the wind laying down today through the weekend, things are looking great here in Ellensburg. Lots and lots of bugs around right now, so make sure to carry a wide variety of patterns both surface and sub-surface imitating drakes, pmds, caddis, and stoneflies. Overall, there has been better mayfly activity upriver, while the evening caddis hatch in the canyon has been bringing some fish up. Nymphing throughout the system has been consistent, albeit not "red hot", with a #8 Pat's trailed by smaller beadhead attractor stuff like princes, hare's ears and PTs in #12-14. We are starting to settle in to our consistent summer flows and fishing, so get out here and experience the summer fishing on the Yak!
