Yakima River Fishing Report

We are bracing for some winter weather this weekend, and we say bring irt on! Winter fishing is on it's way, and our guide staff can't wait. Some of the things we like about winter include short floats, small bugs, trout spey, irish coffee, and some of the biggest fish of the season! If you are interested in taking a guided trip this winter, check out our winter specials available on both the Yakima and Rocky Ford. More info located under current specials on our guided trips page.

Currently, the fishing has been pretty dang good, with most fish coming on either nymph rigs or streamers. The same Pat's/beadhead combo that has been fishing well all of October should continue to produce this month, but look for midge pupa to play a bigger role in addition to BWO nymphs. Streamer anglers are finding success on a variety of patterns and colors, both swinging and stripping. Playing around with color and profile, as well as the speed of the retrieve is often neccessary unrtil you find what is working. Some of our guide's best meat patterns lately have been Moto Minnows, smaller Sculpzillas and Dali Llamas in olive, black and white.
